James Spratt’s developed the dog food after seeing stray dogs feeding off hard biscuits discarded from the ships at nearby docks.  He pioneered commercial pet food and redefined animal care forever.  The other legacy born out of the Poplar factory, is the creation of the Crufts Dog Show in 1891.  Charles Crufts was an employee of James Spratt's.​

Colmans Wharf is surprisingly well connected regarding public transport. It is situated between two (2) DLR stations: Devons Road and Langdon Park each a 5 mins walk away taking you to either Canary Wharf; with its connection to the Jubilee Line, Elizabeth Line, River boat and other DLR lines that take you to Bank, Tower Hill, City Airport and south to Greenwich and beyond or Stratford and its army of network links.
